With spring blooming and summer right around the bend, it is a great time to take inventory of how things have gone for your business the first part of the year. Of course, you can’t assess every aspect of the business all the time. However, you should take inventory of employee engagement at least once a year. If you are in Human Resources or a management position, here are 3 questions to ask yourself concerning employee engagement:

Do my employees seem excited about work?

Of course, there will be days when employees have an “off” day, but if your employees are always looking down in the dumps or dragging in the office late and leaving a minute early, then there could be a problem with engagement. An actively engaged employee is excited about his or her job and appears happy to be at the office.

Does my employee look for opportunities to grow or learn?

When your employees seek out workshops, conferences, or continuing education classes, they are content in their job and fully engaged. Growth is a sign of health and vitality. Without growth, stagnation and then death occurs. You definitely do not want that occurring in the workplace. Employees who are encouraged about learning are a boost to the company.

Do my employees go beyond their regular tasks?

Getting the job done is a worthy accomplishment, but those employees who go beyond that to do a little extra are truly engaged. They take pride in their work and look for ways to excel in the job position. Take notice of these individuals and be sure to reward their extra work.
